Citi Handlowy for Polish Companies interested in investing abroad
In Kraków, Citi Handlowy met with nearly 100 representatives of the SME sector. Acting under the slogan of 25 years of economic liberty, the bank discussed with its clients the domestic and foreign expansion possibilities of Polish companies. Apart from gathering the key SMEs from the Małopolska Region, the meeting also attracted Sunil Garg, Global Head of Commercial Bank, and Tasnim Ghiawadwala, EMEA Head of Commercial Bank. An introductory speech was delivered by professor Leszek Balcerowicz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance between 1989-1991 and 1997-2000.
I am glad that today we can sum up the past 25 years of transformations in Poland together with Polish enterprises. Those years were mainly marked by a dynamic growth of entrepreneurship and it makes me even more proud that Citi was a global partner in that development and supported it on a regular basis. For years, our goal has been to inspire enterprises and provide them with global expertise – to support the development of business in Poland and the development of Polish companies abroad, said Garg.
Polish companies are expanding throughout the region. According to our research, every fifth company from the SME sector aspires not only to attain a firm position on the Polish market, but also to expand internationally. Considering the high-quality products and services offered by, among others, companies from the Małopolska Region, one can expect that the ratio will continue to grow with each passing year, said Ghiawadwala.
I'm glad that we can accompany our clients in achieving their goals and aspirations. Many of the companies present today in Cracow have been with us for over 20 years. We were with them when they built their position on the Polish market, and today we encourage them and help them to enter foreign markets. Currently, our customers from the SME sector operate in 26 markets, competing with their rivals from the most remote corners of the world, adds Grzegorz Dąbrowski, CCB Head.
The Kraków meeting was one of many organized by Citi Handlowy for its clients. Last Wednesday, the bank talked with over 80 representatives of enterprises from the Małopolska Region about the achievements of Polish business in the last quarter of a century. At the same time, Citi's opined on the development of Polish companies and their potential. Aside from providing information on the ways in which banks can further support Polish entrepreneurs in their foreign expansion, the bank discussed the Polish business in the context of other EMEA countries. The meeting was initiated with a lecture by Balcerowicz, a co-founder of the economic reform of the 90s, who summed up the economic transformations that took place in Poland in the course of the last 25 years.
