Citi Handlowy Launches First Payment Public Transport Card in Poland

Citibank payment card and Warsaw public transport pass in one!

Citi Handlowy, in cooperation with the Warsaw Transport Authority (ZTM), has launched Poland’s first payment public transport card. With this traditional payment card, the Bank’s clients will be able to code non-transferable long-term tickets, and enjoy several other benefits.

With a Citibank Debit Public Transport Card, clients will save 10 percent of the ticket price. Those who choose both the Citibank Debit Public Transport Card and the Citibank Credit Public Transport Card will save as much as 20 percent. In addition, the first 3,000 purchasers of the Citibank Payment Transport Card will receive iPod shuffles from Citi Handlowy.

The Warsaw Transport Authority is striving to improve access to and the functionality of the ticket forms. The possibility of coding the non-transferable long-term tickets on the payment card will greatly facilitate everyday use of the Warsaw Transport Card and Student ID Card.

The Citibank Payment Public Transport Card combines the functionality of the Citibank payment card and the Warsaw public transport pass. Warsaw citizens will be able to use their payment card as their season ticket. An additional plastic card will enable users to make payments, ATM cash withdrawals and become a member of the largest Polish payment card discount program, but they code non-transferable, long-term public transport tickets.

In addition to seven Warsaw Transport Authority Customer Service Points, Citi Handlowy clients can buy the Citibank Payment Public Transport Card in 26 Citi Handlowy branches. The card includes the name and a picture of the cardholder. Cardholders can have their ID pictures taken at a branch.

The Citibank Payment Public Transport Card is the first card in Poland to enable users to get a discount for Warsaw public transport. Holders of the Citibank Debit Public Transport Card may save 10% of the ticket price. With 30-day adult tickets they can save PLN 94 per year. The only condition is minimum PLN 1500 receipts on their account per month.

Owners of both the Citibank Debit and Credit Public Transport Card will get as much as 20 percent of the ticket price back, saving PLN 188 per year. They only have to make a minimum of one credit card transaction per month and use their Debit Card. The discounts are made by returning an amount of the ticket to a client’s bank or credit card account.

The offer applies to non-transferable, long-term (30- or 90-day) tickets, including reduced and normal fares for one or all transport lines in the first or second zone. The discount is also valid for purchases via Internet.

The Citibank Payment Public Transport Card is available at Warsaw Citi Handlowy’s branches and selected InMedio and Relay newsagents. For more information on the offer, please visit: www.online.citibank.pl.
