A tiny microchip embedded in your PayPass sticker makes your contactless payments a safe way to pay for your purchases. The sticker activates only for a second during the transaction and only within a close distance from the reader (5 cm). Is there a risk that I will be charged twice for the transaction?

There is no such a risk associated with PayPass payments. All the terminals are designed to read the information transmitted by the sticker once only – when the transaction is being made. Additionally, each transaction must be completed or canceled before the next transaction can proceed. This eliminates the risk of being charged twice for the same transaction.

Can it happen that using my PayPass sticker I will accidentally pay for somebody else’s purchase instead of mine?

It is not possible – for most of the time your PayPass sticker is inactive and it does not send any information whatsoever. When you are making the contactless payment, the sticker activates for a second and only if it receives a clear signal from the PayPass when it receives a signal from the terminal.
