Economic education
Social responsibility

Economy is an essential sphere of life since it affects its quality in a most direct manner. We are convinced that by increasing financial awareness an individual can acquire the skills of effective management of personal finances.
It is for this reason that economic education has become a priority area in the activities of the Kronenberg Foundation.
In 2008 we launched two new programs: "From Penny to Pound" - addressed to the youngest pupils, and "Banks in Action - Contest of Financial Knowledge" - the first of its kind in Poland, contest for secondary school students.
We have continued and developed our earlier economic education projects. "Week for Saving" social campaign combined with the celebrations of International Saving Day was enriched by a very popular amateur video contest, while our flagship "My Finances' - the largest economic education program in Europe - has reached
the impressive number of 525,600 young participants.
For those who deal with the practical aspects of economy by launching and managing their own businesses we have the increasingly popular Microentrepreneur of the Year contest.
We also award the ultimate masters of the science of economics with the Bank Handlowy Award for special achievements in the theory of economics and finance.

In spring 2009 the Foundation launched a campaign for the National Financial Education Strategy for Poland. On 27 May, an article "Educated are better off" by Sławomir S. Sikora, President of Management Board of Citi Handlowy, was published, discussing the implications of low economic awareness in the Polish society. It was concluded by an appeal for a broad coalition of institutions interested in spreading financial education to work on the Strategy.
The article stimulated considerable response from a number of institutions: the National Bank of Poland, Ministry of Finance and NGOs, including business associations.
