Learning and Development

At Citi our approach to development is simple - we offer limitless opportunities and provide tools our employees can use at a time they deem suitable. We absolutely promote the proactive attitude and responsibility for shaping one’s own career.

There are no rigid career paths that must be followed! Here everyone carves out their own path. Thanks to Career Mobility, each employee of the organization may apply for any position within Citi worldwide.

We base our approach to development on the 3E’s concept1:

  • Experience – Learning from Doing, i.e. everyday tasks – constituting 70% of the learning process;
  • Exposure – Learning from Others, i.e. observing others, asking questions, as well as shadowing, mentoring and coaching within the organisation – constituting 20% of the personal development;
  • Education – Learning from Courses, i.e. trainings, publications, including internal programmes of developing diverse skills and access to courses led by prestigious foreign universities (coursera.org) – constituting 10% of the learning process.

1The 70:20:10 learning concept was developed by Morgan McCall, Robert W. Eichinger, and Michael M. Lombardo at the Center for Creative Leadership. It is used by biggest global organisations, chosen every year by thousands of professionals and students.
